A few weeks back my friends Sheri and Brandon called me for a mini session, and they had a surprise. They are beginning the process to adopt a little girl from China, and they needed a family portrait for their adoption portfolio.
We met up for some quick session, and hopefully in less than a year we will be getting together again for new family portraits with little Jia! Follow their adventure on their blog!

Regular blog readers will remember a photo story about the Madison restaurant Chickiepoo’s. The family has a new food story to tell and I visited them last weekend to document their new venture.
Pizza. Bagels. True New York style. I’m a NY/NJ native so I can say with confidence that this is the real thing. Chef Gregor and family are serving up these delicious goods at the Madison Indiana Farmers’ Market. Everything is made fresh and by hand, on the spot. Get a warm bagel (plain, onion, sesame, poppyseed, cinnamon raisin) for breakfast and a dozen to enjoy throughout the week. Grab a cheese slice for lunch or a whole pie for a picnic with friends. Be as creative as you want to be. Tomato sauce and pepperoni? Of course. Pesto sauce with kale, artichoke hearts, and kalamata olives? You can have that, too.
Thirsty? There’s fresh-squeezed lemonade, handmade sodas and iced tea, and Mexican Coca-Cola.
Pizza available 11-2 on Tuesdays, Thursdays & Saturdays, weather permitting.
Bagels 7-until they run out (get there early, or you’ll miss out) on Saturdays, also weather permitting.

Baseball season is winding to a close. It has been busy – ever so busy – yet while I’ll be glad to reclaim “normal” life for a bit, I’m going to miss it. So glad he has fallen in love with the game.

My CrossFit coach Holly deadlifts a PR 220 pounds, and is still able to peel her husband, coach Nick, off the floor following his final WOD for the 2011 CrossFit Games Open. The sweat angel is all that was left of him after he experienced spontaneous human combustion. ;)
Nick placed 4th in the Central East region and will compete in the regionals representing Mad City CrossFit in Columbus, OH in June. Congratulations Nick!
